Editorial Purpose

SettleCompass publishes educational tools and guides about alimony, spousal support, state law differences, and divorce financial planning. Our content is designed to help readers prepare questions for attorneys, mediators, tax professionals, and financial planners. It is not legal, tax, or financial advice.

Research and Sources

State law pages are built from structured state data, public statutes, court-system resources, tax references, and general family-law research. When a page discusses a specific state, it links to primary or official-indexed sources where available.

Calculator estimates use simplified formula profiles and duration bands. The methodology page explains the limits of those estimates.

Review Process

Pages marked as reviewed are checked by the SettleCompass Research Team for internal consistency, source alignment, clear disclaimers, and user-facing accuracy. Review does not mean a licensed attorney has evaluated a reader's specific facts.

Updates and Corrections

Legal and tax rules change. We update pages when source material, calculator logic, or editorial guidance changes materially. If you believe a page contains an error, email hello@settlecompass.com with the page URL, the statement in question, and the source you believe should be reviewed.
